BMW Safari heads to the West for the first time in 23 years. Like Safaris of old we are combining the GS and TS events together so riders have the choice of either dirt or road on the two separate routes being supported each day. Riders will then meet up at the end of the day for a drink and chat about the highlights of the day’s ride.

GS or TS?

The GS Safari is aimed at off road adventure riders, keen to get their bikes as dirty as possible.  Riders should expect to travel around 300+km per day. For newer riders or Safari first timers we strongly recommend the Pre-Safari Off Road Training. More experienced riders will also benefit by taking the course as it’s aimed at riders of all levels and abilities.

The TS is for the road riders. The route will be 100% on sealed roads and will wind it’s way around the beautiful south west corner of WA. On the TS, riding with a pillion is also an option and we expect to have a strong contingent of riders with partners enjoying the event.

Starting in the heart of Perth the ride will be held over four days and finishing up in the coastal town of Albany. Riders will then have the option to either ride back towards Perth or continue on across the Nullarbor Plain to the eastern states of Australia.

The Safari group is a diverse bunch from all walks of life.  At most events we have a great mix of returning riders and Safari first timers. Many lifelong friendships begin on Safari and the spirit of helping each other out is amazing. Everyone is welcome, as long as you’re riding a BMW!

Perfected since 1994 there is a large crew on hand to help you enjoy your adventure without the fuss and stress of planning, organising and supporting your own ride.

A small but dedicated BMW Safari team do all the planning, manage bookings, provide pre-event information and ensure that during the event everything runs as smooth as possible. They pride themselves in giving riders the best BMW Safari experience available.

Highly qualified on bike medical support provides peace of mind in case things don’t go to plan. Other members of the team are qualified first aiders and carry satellite phones and emergency call devices.

Our BMW qualified tech support team are on hand to help when needed. This includes a sweep vehicle as well as an on bike technician.

Riding remote and adventurous trails always raises concerns about tyres. What if I get a flat, how do I fix it? BMW Safari look after all of this with a dedicated tyre support vehicle. GS tyres can be pre-purchased and fitted at the start or during the event. Emergency tyre repairs are easily taken care of on-route or at the end of the day. TS riders will also have use of tyre support if required.

Having your luggage transported each day has real advantages. Removing the added weight of luggage from your bike during the event is a huge plus, especially when terrain become challenging. While the TS riders can carry their own gear, it is a requirement that all GS riders have their gear carried on the luggage truck and only soft bags can be used.

Sometimes riding to and from the Safari is an event in itself. For those that are time poor we can arrange bike transport enabling you to fly in and out of the event. Transport suppliers are BMW approved to ensure your motorcycle arrives in tip top shape, ready for an amazing ride.

Improve your riding skills and you will get more from your motorcycle. Rider training helps you ride smoother, safer and possibly a little faster too. That’s why more and more riders are getting the benefits of BMW’s proven Off Road Training courses. There is no better way to prepare yourself for a GS Safari than to sign up for the Pre-Safari training course. This is a great “refresher” to improve your skills and get your eye in. Many riders sign up because they know they will benefit. Don’t be the rider that should have signed up but didn’t.
