2019 is an exciting year for BMW Safari, we are celebrating 25 years of the event! Kicking off with the BMW GS Safari in NSW, from April 7-12, we will make our way from Windsor, just 40 minutes northwest of Sydney, to Coffs Harbour on NSW’s mid-north coast.
During these 5 days you will be treated to an abundance of adventure riding gold, whether it’s off road or on the bitumen the journey is sure to keep a smile on your face. There are some hidden gems in NSW to unlock on your GS and we will be heading right for them.
Don’t think it will be all coffee’s and cake, you will have the opportunity to be tested at a few points if you wish with terrain that will demand your attention. You will also have the opportunity to sharpen up your skills prior to the event with a 2-Day BMW Off Road Training Pre-Safari course, located not far from the starting location at Windsor.
The event will start on Sunday the 7th April when you will arrive at Windsor, NSW for registration and a welcome function and briefing. Riding will commence Monday morning and the week will wrap up Friday afternoon when you arrive into Coffs Harbour for the closing dinner.
2019 marks 25 years of BMW Safari! With a long and proud heritage dating back to 1994, Australia’s BMW Safaris are among the longest running BMW Motorrad customer rides in the world. The 25th anniversary BMW GS Safari logo pays homage to the first ever event by It is common to meet international riders that are extremely envious of the opportunity Australian GS riders have on their doorstep.
The GS Safari riders are a diverse bunch from all walks of life. Everyone is welcome, as long as you are riding a GS! Riders from all over Australia and some from abroad will make the journey to Windsor, NSW for the 2019 BMW Safari GS.
Riding remote and adventurous trails always raises concerns about tyres. What if I get a flat, how do I fix it? BMW Safari look after all of this with a dedicated tyre support vehicle. Tyres can be pre-purchased and fitted at the start and during the event. Customers can also pre-purchase a spare tyre (or tyres) to fit during the week. Emergency tyre repairs are easily taken care of on-route or at the end of the day. We suggest participants have a tyre plan, this may include pre-purchased spare tyres in case of any unexpected tyre issues during the event.
For 2019 the Safari GS will have two accommodation packages on offer. Single or twin share. Generally, we try to stay in comfortable motel style accommodation of 3 and 4 start quality. Although for this event we will be visiting several venues that exceed those standards such as the Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and Opal Cove Resort.
Having your luggage transported each day has real advantages. Removing the added weight of luggage from your bike during the event is a huge advantage, especially when conditions become challenging.
Sometimes riding to and from the Safari is an event in itself. For those that are time poor we can arrange bike transport, details will be updated when registration opens.
